We are so happy to be able to celebrate with her, especially because she brought the most delicious coconut cake ever! She came into the office jumping up and down in her beautiful flower dress and big smile, announcing to everyone that it's her birthday! Her vibrant energy is so contagious that we all stood up and started jumping up and down with her!

More Than Us at the 2010 ICFF!

Come check out More Than Us at the 22nd Annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair May 15-18, 2010 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Booth 800!

Join us for this inspiring design exhibition featuring cutting edge works from around the world.

Visit us at Booth 800 along with our partners in crime NYDesigns, where we will be showcasing our newest project – the Embedded Energy Calculator.

With the generous funding from the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA), More Than Us and NYDesigns created an innovative online tool that will allow designers to evaluate the embedded energy of materials used on a project. The Embedded Energy Calculator will approximate the energy a project can consume during its production life cycle, factoring in the stage of extraction, manufacturing, supply and installation where known and relevant.

The results are monumental.

Once the embedded energy is calculated, designers will be able to seek out sustainable alternatives, making a bigger impact not only in their creative process, but in the world. At a point in history where we are at the pinnacle of global awareness and green technology, the Embedded Energy Calculator comes at the perfect time.

We will be beta testing this summer and would love your input!

We're in! We moved into our new office this week at NY Designs and it's great. We've got the keys, the menu of a good thai spot for lunch and now we're cooking with gas!

After a great few days of whiteboard sessions with one of our favorite clients, we switched our mode of thinking to the upcoming months of riding waves. And while looking around at what's to come, I found a great video of some rugged riders getting their fix in the Maine winter.

While watching a tv show on hulu last night I was presented with the above advertisement during one of the commercial breaks.

While this is nothing too groundbreaking, I noticed that when we see how almost natural it feels to make choices during a television commercial on your computer, we can then easily imagine on how familiar it will feel to apply this same thinking and interaction to a commercial on an interactive tv.

Developed as New York’s first Design Incubator, NY Designs helps emerging and established design firms flourish with vibrant studio space, proven business training, sustainability workshops, and hands-on business counseling — all under one roof. With such a powerful set of tools for emerging businesses and potential for strong community, NY Designs needed a website that empowered their users on multiple levels.

To create this community and help foster support, NY Designs brought in More Than Us as a strategic partner. After holding a series of interviews with stake holders, residents and outside clients, the idea of an online community grew to become the central message. To bring this core idea to life, we created a set of tools that would foster community within the Incubator, as well as with an external network of clients and design firms.

One of the applications we created was a tool that allows small businesses to upload their own projects in a portfolio, and promote these projects throughout both the site and the internet seamlessly. We also helped create an Event system that allows NY Designs to promote their hosted events easily and effectively.

Currently still in the early phases of a public release, the NY Designs website is being used as model to all other New York City related incubators as to how they should function. Even NYCEDC, the department behind many of NYC’s small business initiatives, has used the site as a benchmark for its own success and an example on how to move forward online. (visit site).

Utilizing its “educate, motivate, inspire” ethos, the International Scholar Laureate Program (ISLP), is the product of an educator-led initiative founded over 25 years ago. ISLP focuses on educating and energizing accomplished students through interactive, experiential and engaging programs that encourage young adults to challenge their worldview as they delve deeper into their career paths.

ISLP needed to move their membership and marketing model from a direct mail conversation into an online reality. Joining forces with Nolej Studios, More Than Us created an interactive solution by building a set of online tools, including a user-generated multimedia section and a one-to-one forum for the students to share their experiences.

Focusing on a well thought out online strategy and marketing campaign, as well as a strong creative and development plan, we helped create an extremely successful launch and outreach that lead to higher than expected conversion rates and access to new audiences.
