more than a blog
Today we celebrate a very special day, our Design Intern’s 24th birthday! We are so happy to be able to celebrate with her, especially because she brought the most delicious coconut cake ever! She came into the office jumping up and down in her beautiful flower dress and big smile, announcing to everyone that it’s her birthday! Her vibrant energy is so contagious that we all stood up and started jumping up and down with her!
What happens when you put a camera, an ex-pilot, a laser cutter, a story about an ex-military cook turned food fabricator, and an Oreo cookie in a room together? You get “Extreme Tools!”

We had a great time at the ICFF show and a lot of fun having people test out our – soon to be released – Embedded Energy Calculator. We also went to the opening night of the Uncomfortable Conversations show which was a huge success and a lot of uncomfortable fun.

Our Embedded Energy Calculator for NYDesigns is being featured at DesignGlut’s ICFF offsite design show Uncomfortable Conversations tonight.
We’ll be heading here from our ICFF booth, so come check us out.

We’re in! We moved into our new office this week at NY Designs and it’s great. We’ve got the keys, the menu of a good thai spot for lunch and now we’re cooking with gas!
We even have a new sign for our door. Thanks Shane.
After a great few days of whiteboard sessions with one of our favorite clients, we switched our mode of thinking to the upcoming months of riding waves. And while looking around at what’s to come, I found a great video of some rugged riders getting their fix in the Maine winter.
Ahhh. I can’t wait.

While watching a tv show on hulu last night I was presented with the above advertisement during one of the commercial breaks.
While this is nothing too groundbreaking, I noticed that when we see how almost natural it feels to make choices during a television commercial on your computer, we can then easily imagine on how familiar it will feel to apply this same thinking and interaction to a commercial on an interactive tv.

Sometimes they are. Sometimes they aren’t.
This monday morning wasn’t so bad.

A few of us went and saw La Roux perform at Webster Hall last night. Not only was she great, but the crowd knew her songs by heart. And her visuals were so simple and perfect to boot.
Here is a small bit of her performing “Bulletproof” as an encore song.
